It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maxine Ward Lelik, who peacefully departed this life on July 21, 2026, at the age of 66.

Born on March 26, 1960, Maxine was a lifelong resident of Newfield, New York, a community she cherished and proudly called home throughout her entire life. She dedicated many years of faithful service to the Department of Social Services, where she built a long and distinguished career marked by compassion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.

Maxine was known for her outgoing personality and warm heart. Her genuine kindness, quick wit, and willingness to speak her mind endeared her to countless friends, neighbors, and colleagues. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome and valued, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.

A woman of deep Christian faith, Maxine lived her life with conviction, compassion, and love for her family. She found great joy in simple pleasures, spending summers camping at Spruce Row Campground and Mosquito Point, taking trips to Dewey Beach, Delaware, where the ocean brought her peace and happiness, and, above all, spending treasured time with her beloved grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and the memories she created with them will be cherished forever.

Maxine was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Kevin Lelik, whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her loving parents, Bill and Dorothy Ward; her brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Kim Ward; her sister, Dee Hoyt; her sons, Kevin and Kyle Lelik; her grandchildren, Grace, Alex, and Sophia Lelik. She also leaves behind her extended family and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by her love, laughter, and friendship.

Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, Maxine's legacy of kindness, strength, faith, and unwavering love for her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 1st, at the Trumbulls Corners Cemetery. Family and friends are warmly invited to a celebration of life immediately following the service at 12:30 PM at the Ithaca Moose Lodge.
