Mary (Sullivan) Chase
Mary Sullivan Chase, of Alamo, California, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at 5:10 p.m. on June 7th, 2026, at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek. She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and faith that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Mary was born in Auburn, New York, and raised in Weedsport, New York. She was one of the Sullivan triplets, born April 17th, 1943. Mary earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Oswego College in New York. She taught in New York, Indiana, and in California, teaching for a total of 36 years before retiring in 2009. She was an avid tennis player, a camp counselor for the Girl Scouts, and a passionate runner, biker, and swimmer. She completed 13 marathons, including the Boston Marathon, and numerous triathlons, including the Ironman in Hawaii. In retirement, she loved caring for her grandchildren and traveling.
Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, H. Joseph Weaver, and her second husband, Edwin Paul Chase, brother James Sullivan, and her parents Frances and William Sullivan.
She is survived by her children: Joseph Weaver and wife Carolyn, and Colin Weaver and wife Constance; grandchildren: Ashley (Weaver) Cassel and husband Justin Cassel, Joseph Weaver, James Weaver, Nicole Weaver, and Nicholas Weaver; and great-grandchildren: Major and Maverick Cassel. She was also a loving sister to her triplet brother Mike Sullivan and her triplet sister Kathy (Frances) Blumer. She’ll be fondly remembered as Aunt Mary to numerous nieces and nephews. Her personality was larger than life—outgoing, incredibly giving, and feisty right to the very end.
Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 20th, at St. Joseph’s Church in Weedsport, NY. The funeral mass begins at 10 a.m. with a reception at the church immediately following the burial.
