Marlin J. Hutton
Marlin J. Hutton, 82, of Auburn, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at his home. Born August 10, 1943, in Norwich, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Florence Mott Hutton. He was a graduate of Weedsport High School, Class of 1961, and served with the United States Army from 1963 to 1964. Marlin was employed as a teacher and retired from Weedsport School District, where he coached basketball and golf. He had the distinction of being chosen to the Weedsport Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. Together with his late wife Suzanne, they owned and operated Meadowbrook Golf Club in Weedsport for more than 24 years. Marlin was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, playing golf, and was crowned the Cayuga County District Golf Champion.
He is survived by his two children, Katherine M. Locke (Ronald Russell) and Matthew M. Hutton; one grandson, Luke A. Locke; one brother, Maurice Hutton (Bonnie); sisters, Cynthia Wright (Douglas) and Candace Carter (Robert); and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his loving wife Suzanne, Marlin was predeceased by his sister Cheryl Heyen.
Calling hours will be conducted Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Drive, Weedsport. Friends are invited to join the family for a service to be offered Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Weedsport Rural Cemetery.
Marlin's children would like to express their sincere gratitude to family, long-time friends, and neighbors for their generous time and support during the last couple of years. In addition, Marlin's comfort in his final months could not have happened without the support of his Peregrine Aides and Hospice team. Their professionalism and care were stellar, and with their help, he was able to stay in the comfort of his own home.
