Marcie Leanne Pennella
Marcie Leanne (Sloan) Pennella, 53, of Auburn, NY, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, was born January 19, 1973, and passed away unexpectedly on June 26, 2026.
Marcie worked for the NYS Unified Court System for 21 years as the Resource Coordinator for the Cayuga County Felony Treatment Court. She helped many people overcome addiction and had many special friends within the court system. She will be greatly missed by all.
Marcie was a kind and caring person who put everyone else's needs above her own. She was compassionate and loving. Her children were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment watching them grow and flourish. Her greatest passion was helping others, and she was the go-to person whenever anyone needed cheering up. She was often referred to as "Pollyanna" for her positive outlook on life and her ability to put a positive twist on any situation.
She was predeceased by her husband Nick Pennella, her brother Gregory Sloan, grandparents Morgan and Jean Smith, grandparents Harold and Edith Kent, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law Carmine and Josefa Pennella.
Marcie is survived by her son Jacob; her daughter Carly; her mother Betty Del Rossi (Joe); her father James Sloan; her brother Jeffery Sloan (Katy); her sister Jennifer Hoyt (Tom); her nieces Nicole, Molly, and Jordan; and Brianna, who held a special place in her heart like a daughter; her nephews Nicholas, Patrick, and Mike; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Please join the family for a time of visitation and remembrance on Wednesday, July 1st from 4 PM to 6 PM at Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee Street, Auburn, NY 13021. We invite you to stay for a brief service at the conclusion of the calling hours.
