Kimberly A. Salato

Cayuga, NY March 11, 1966 – July 19, 2024 Age 58

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kimberly A. Salato, 60, who passed away peacefully on July 19th surrounded by her devoted sisters, their spouses, and her childhood friend. Born on March 11th, 1966, in Auburn, NY, and raised in Cayuga, Kim lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, and unconditional love for her family and friends. She had a warm smile, a generous heart, and a remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel welcomed and loved. Whether through her laughter, her caring nature, or her quiet strength, she touched the lives of many.

Kim graduated from Union Springs High School and earned a BS degree in Human Resources, with a minor in Special Needs and Disabilities from SUNY Brockport. She was very proud of her degree, which eventually led to her career working for NYS OPWDD. Kim found joy in taking care of others. She cherished time spent with those she loved and created lasting memories that her family and friends will hold close forever. She loved her trips to the casino, scratch-off tickets, and trips that would bring her near any type of water, especially Cape Cod and visiting her parents in Delray Beach, Florida.

She is lovingly survived by her father, her hero, Peter A. Salato Jr., her devoted sisters Christina (Thomas) Carter and Lisa (Shaun) Warner, her lifetime and devoted friend, Debra Rouse-Johnston, cherished calico cat, Peaches, and her significant other, Will Briggs. In addition to many aunts, uncles, and cousins, she had several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, whom she loved tenderly and unconditionally. They were all her pride and joy. The Bartolotto Family (Carrie, Anthony, Nina, Antonio & Giovanni), The Ward Family (Pete, Nikkie, Parker & Harlow), The Evans Family (Adam, Dansa, David & Aviya), The Oh Family (Sarah & Justin), The Warner Family (Jessica, Kouria, Koa, Kaven).

She was preceded in death in 2024 by her loving mother, Marlyn (Roudabush) Salato, and in 1989 by nephew Donald W. Ward Jr. Although our hearts are broken by her passing, we are grateful for the time we shared with her. Her love, compassion, and beautiful spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, August 2nd at White Chapel Funeral Home from 1-3 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate her life and honor the lasting legacy she leaves behind. Her funeral mass will be held Monday, August 3rd at St. Mary’s Church, Auburn, NY, at 10:00 AM with funeral procession to Lakeview Cemetery in Cayuga, NY.

It was Kim’s wish for everyone to honor her memory not with sorrow alone, but with a gathering filled with music, laughter, and the sharing of memories. Please come as you are to raise a glass in her honor and celebrate her life and her vibrant spirit with love and joy. All are invited to join us in her Celebration of Life at “The Point” Auburn, NY, at approximately 12:30 PM on Monday, following funeral services.
