Glenora/Dundee: Kenneth Crissy Holgate, age 97, of Glenora Point, NY, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. Honoring his wishes, there are no prior calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at the Rock Stream Cemetery, Rock Stream, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837.

Kenneth was born November 24, 1916, in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Howard and Louise Ball Holgate. He graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in 1939. On Dec. 28, 1940, he married the former Joan May Peelle, who passed away on June 13, 2001. He served as a Major in the 199th FA BN in the E.T.O. during WWII, receiving the Bronze Star and the Conspicuous Service Cross. Mr. Holgate was a Vice President and a Founding Member of Seneca Food Corporation in Dundee, NY, retiring in 1981. He also had worked as a Research Associate at the N.Y. State Agricultural Experimentation Station and A & P Tea Co. Quality Control Lab in N.Y. City.

Ken was a Past Master of the Dundee Masonic Lodge 123 F&AM, a Past President of the Dundee Rotary Club, and a Former Supervisor and Town Board member for the Town of Starkey.

He is survived by 3 daughters: Barbara (Ronald) Hall of Ithaca, Linda Lou (Jack) Fowler of Odessa, and Michelle Holgate at Glenora; 2 sons: Kenneth C. (Patricia) Holgate of Milton, PA, and William R. (Eileen) Holgate of Glenora; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Howard Ball Holgate of Aspen, CO, in 2011.
