Jonathan Paxton Thorn
Jonathan (Jon) Paxton Thorn, 48, of Solvay, NY, was tragically and unexpectedly lost to us on June 18th, 2026. His sudden passing left a void for his family, friends, and loved ones, who are still reeling at the abrupt loss. Those that knew Jonathan understood that he embraced life on his own terms and had faced down many adversities at a very young age. Yet, Jon coupled his unapologetic demeanor and candor with a generally thoughtful and earnest spirit that could brighten the bleakest of days.
Jonathan came into the world in Syracuse, NY, in March of 1978 and was born to Paul E. Thorn Sr. and Glayds Elaine (Paxton) Thorn. The youngest of four rambunctious siblings, Jon jokingly claimed that he had to be quick on his feet at a young age to simply survive. Jonathan was educated at Solvay High School, where his speed and tenacity helped him excel at both football and track. He was an avid sports fan and had loved to watch his various nephews’ and nieces’ athletic endeavors and was a steadfast supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jonathan had worked previously at both Time-Warner Cable and Verizon, where he was a skilled technician. More recently, Jon had supported himself working as a bartender.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Sr. and Elaine of Syracuse, grandparents Boyd and Jane Thorn of Havertown, PA, Forrest and Erma Paxton of Ransom, IL, sister Sandy Ternosky, and nephew Ian Ternosky. Jon is survived by the families of his brothers Paul (Jennifer) Thorn, David (Kristin) Kelpacki-Thorn, and brother-in-law John Ternosky, as well as aunts and uncles, cousins, several nephews and nieces, and great-nephews and great-nieces, to go along with a multitude of his friends.
Friends and family are invited to call 5 PM - 7 PM Saturday, July 11th at the Bush Funeral Home, 120 E. Main St., Elbridge. In lieu of flowers, Jon would have appreciated donations to the Solvay High School sports boosters in his name.
