John W. Kirk

John W. Kirk, 69, of Locke (Summerhill), NY, passed away December 25, 2018, at Cayuga Medical Center, Ithaca, following a brief illness. Born November 30, 1949, he was a son of the late Paul F. and Alice (Webster) Kirk.

John lived in Summerhill most of his life. A graduate of Groton Central School, in earlier years he was employed in the trucking business. More recently, he and his wife, Karen, owned and operated the Kirk Farm on Rt. 90, in Summerhill. He currently was employed by the Town of Summerhill as the Highway Superintendent.

John is survived by his loving wife, Karen (Canestaro) Kirk; son Shaun (Diedra) of Victor, NY; his daughter, Jennifer (Roger) Whipple of Ashland, MA; and baby granddaughter, Brianna Alice Whipple. Also surviving are his two brothers, Jim (Carol) of Moravia, Karl (Phyllis) of Cortland, a sister, Pat (Bob) Brickel of Hudson, FL, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main Street, Dryden, NY, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM. A Celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, can be made in John's name to a charity of one's choice.
