Seneca Falls

James William Brown passed peacefully at Geneva General Hospital on July 8, 2026. James, or Jimmy as he was known to many, was 91 years old. He was born in Fayette, NY, on February 20, 1935, son of James & Eunice Brown; both of which are deceased. He was pre-deceased by his wife Elsie Brown. He had a sister, Helen DeWall & husband Albert DeWall, both of which are deceased. He also had a brother Kenneth Brown, also deceased.

He is survived by his 5 children, Elery Scott & Ann Brown and family, Kathleen & Dieter Ryrko and family, Sharlene Wilson & Albert Santiago and family, Colleen & Amy Brown-Faulkner and family, and Jodi & Gloria Brown-Haines and family. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks to his “security blanket,” Crystal.

Jimmy Brown was a union carpenter for over 40 years, a beef cattle and crop farmer, a trapper and trapping trainer, and a rodeo cowboy in his early years. Sun up till sun down, work was what he was and lived. He was always willing to help other people but never able to ask for help for himself. He passed down that work ethic to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his love of nature and the outdoor world.

His wishes will be honored with no calling hours or services.

From a poem written by his daughter:
“An old cowboy will ride forever and ever
To admit he can’t, his mind would never.
It’s the only way of life he knows
The feel of it through his old body it flows.
This life, his horse and all it’s no toy
Just the life of an amazing old cowboy!”

“Memories may be beautiful and yet, what’s too painful to remember, we simply choose to forget! So, it’s the laughter we will remember, whenever we remember!”
