Dundee: Jean Pelton Anthos, age 63, of Dundee, NY, died Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Hospeace House in Naples, NY. Honoring her wishes, there are no prior calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday (Oct. 26) in Hillside Cemetery, Route 14 A, Dundee, with Elder David Young officiating. A reception will follow at the Dundee American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dundee American Legion Bradley-Jessop Post 660, 10 Spring St., Dundee, NY 14837.
Jean was born August 17, 1950, in Huntington, Long Island, NY, the daughter of the late Leon Monroe and Ida Marie Brimmer Pelton. She graduated from Dundee Central School in 1968. She returned to school later in life and graduated from Pauldines Beauty School in Elmira. She used her education by becoming a hairdresser employed by The Homestead in Penn Yan, NY, for over 15 years. Jean was a Jehovah's Witness and attended Kingdom Hall in Watkins Glen. An avid artist, she enjoyed stained glass and painting. She collected Coca-Cola memorabilia, rocks which she painted, and loved working in the yard landscaping.
She is loved and will be dearly missed by her daughter, Naomi J. Pelton, at home; a nephew, David L. Pelton, of Phoenix, AZ; she is also survived by Linda M. (Eddie) Vickio and her children, Deanna and Gordan, of Watkins Glen; Marion Colunio, whom she loved like a mother, also of Watkins Glen; lifelong friends Carol Cooper of Dundee, and her daughter, who Jean considered a niece, Kristen Duran Earl; Kathy Wheeler; Judy Bell Johnson; Gary Frazier; and her "Grand Puppy" Bridget.
Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by a brother, David M. Pelton, in 2003.
