Janet S. Iocco
Janet S. Iocco, 80, of Savannah, NY, passed away Sunday (November 23, 2008) in the Wayne County Nursing Home. Born on March 7, 1928, in the Town of Butler to Chauncey and Alice Harper, she was the youngest child of six. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marge Fallin, Louise Gregg, and her brothers, Albert and Edgar Harper.
On August 18, 1946, Janet was married to James M. Iocco. They made their home in Savannah, where she continued to live until 2005. Her husband, of 52 years, passed away in 1998. She was a full-time homemaker for most of her married life until she began working at the Savannah Post Office, where she enjoyed chatting with everyone. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, quick wit, and ready laugh.
Janet derived her greatest pleasure from having her family around her. There was always a monthly gathering for birthdays and holidays. She is survived by her daughters, Vicky (Ronald) Harrington of Pulaski, Laurie (Scott) Anderson of Addison, Cindy (Anthony) Castellano of Clyde, and Trudy (Daniel) Chapman of Alexander; eight grandchildren, Shannon (Jeffery) Isham of Syracuse, Brad (Deirdre) Harrington of Port Chester, Zachary Anderson of Syracuse, Thea Anderson (Michael Hamlin) of Silver Creek, Carissa Anderson of Chicago, Jamie Castellano (Philip Coln) of Clyde, Erin Castellano of Atlanta, Georgia, and Andrew Castellano still at home; three great-grandchildren, Ryan and Noah Isham, and Caitlin Harrington. Also, she is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Homer) French of Cato, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday (November 28) from 1-3 p.m. at the Colvin-Norton Funeral Home, 13081 West Church Street in Savannah, where her funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation. Spring interment will be at the Rose Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory should be directed to either the Savannah Volunteer Fire Department or Ambulance.
