Mendon, NY January 25, 1928 – June 22, 2026 Age 98

Jane R. Stenglein passed away peacefully at the age of 98 years old, on Monday, June 22, at her home in Mendon. Jane was born in Rochester, NY, to the parents Raymond and Irma Walch.

Jane graduated from West High School on Genesee Street and worked as a secretary for David Cohen. Jane married Ray Stenglein on June 10, 1950, and together they have a son and two daughters. Jane was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Mendon for 30 years and sang in the church choir. Jane also sang with the Grace Choir, who performed at the Eastman Theater! Jane enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren, baking all their favorite dishes. She enjoyed bringing meals to church, friends, and neighbors that were sick and in need of a dinner or just a friend to console with.

Jane is survived by her beloved husband of 76 years, Raymond; her son, Marc and Athena; daughters Susan and Kenneth Hanvey, Sandra and Kevin Betters; grandchildren Marc Stenglein Jr., Lee and Adrienne Hanvey, Stacey Hanvey, Ashley Stenglein, Alexandra Cimino Winner, Colleen Betters, and Jason Hammer; great-grandchildren Noah Covell, Tyler and Jordan Hanvey, Chloe Marshall, Anna and Brooke Casterline; sister-in-law Carol Stenglein; along with many nieces and nephews; special friend Jan Betteridge; and her loving cousin Karen Kushner. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Irma Walch; father and mother-in-law Andrew and Josephine Stenglein; brother-in-law Bill Stenglein; and sister-in-law Ann Walch.

Funeral service will be held at Westminster Chapel in Mendon, New York, on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Chapel Southside, 330 Monroe Street, Honeoye Falls, NY 14472, or Mendon Fire Department, 101 Mendon Ionia Road, Mendon, NY 14506.
