James Louis Salvage
James Louis Salvage, 79, of Auburn went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 27, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY.
James was born on January 3, 1947, in Auburn, NY, to the late Louis J. and Mina Walter Salvage. He worked a variety of jobs as a system analyst and an expert tax preparer. He was a devoted Christian, being saved as a young teenager who put his faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of his sins and for eternal life. He was a faithful church-goer, beginning his journey as a United Methodist and later becoming a Baptist as his relationship with Christ grew. He was a student of both Greek and Hebrew and enjoyed daily Bible study through regular radio programs and private Bible study. His Christian character was most notable through his quiet, patient demeanor that was very seldom ruffled or upset.
Outside of his church family, his time with his immediate family was the joy of his life, and he always enjoyed discussions about God, the Bible, and heaven. He was a faithful caregiver as his parents aged and needed more assistance, and he discharged those responsibilities with great compassion. He was a lover of the outdoors, especially hiking and tennis, and when visiting family in MA, he thoroughly enjoyed the beach and the company of close relatives. He was much beloved by the family dog, Hanz, who sought him out every morning. He is not “gone,” just “gone on” to join family in heaven, until God gathers the whole family together in His perfect time.
He is survived by: Brother: Alan L. Salvage and his wife Frances; Sister: Annette Lu Salvage-Bent; Nieces: Roselle Morris, Megan Salvage, Adrianna Bent; Nephew: Colin Bent; Numerous cousins.
There will be a funeral service at 1 PM on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Freedom Baptist Church, 3324 E. Genesee Street, Auburn, NY, with a continued celebration of James' life after in the fellowship hall.
