Dundee: James C. Rumsey, age 63, of Dundee, NY, died Monday, June 17, 2013, after a long courageous battle with cancer at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira, N.Y. Friends are invited to call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday (June 20) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday (June 21) with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. Burial will follow in Tyrone Union Cemetery, Tyrone, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1400 Winton Road North, Rochester, NY 14609-5896.

James was born June 21, 1949, in Bath, NY, the son of Howard V. and Doris Avery Rumsey. A lifelong area resident, he was a self-employed mechanic until he was forced to retire due to his health. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing in his healthy years, loved music from the 50's and 60's, enjoyed going to car shows and auctions, but was happiest when he was tinkering and getting his hands greasy.

He is loved and will be dearly missed by his mother, Doris G. Rumsey of Dundee; 2 sons, James H. (Dawn) Rumsey of Dundee, Kenneth M. Rumsey of Wayne; 2 daughters, Tammie T. (William) VanGelder of Pulteney, NY, Tonya R. Rumsey of Wake Forest, SC; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Samuel H. (Darlene) Rumsey of Dundee, Christopher S. Rumsey of Hammondsport, Terry Rumsey of Wayne, Howard "Tim" Rumsey of Dundee; 3 sisters, Linda Rumsey, Robbin C. (Harold) Rider, and Candy LaBar, all of Tyrone; his girlfriend, Kathleen Marie Dunn at home; two aunts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
