James Michael Andrew Mack

Penn Yan: James Michael Andrew Mack, age 17, of Penn Yan, N.Y., went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, after a lifelong courageous battle with heart and lung ailments.

The family will receive friends following a "Celebration of His Life" service being held at 1:00 pm Saturday (Sept. 1) at the Faith Baptist Church, 13 Harpending Ave., Dundee, with Pastor Lawrence Semans officiating. Honoring his wishes that his death not be a mournful occasion, James personally requested that no one wear black, but to wear bright and happy colors to his service.

In lieu of flowers, James requested memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland, INC, 10415 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, Ohio 44106-4709, www.rmhcleveland.org, or to Heart Support of America, 6101 Stephens Hill Way, Corryton, TN 37721, www.heartsupportofamerica.org.

James was born July 23, 1995, in Montour Falls, NY, the son of Alan R. and Donna M. Applebee Mack Sr. He has lived locally all his life and was going to start his Sophomore Year at Penn Yan Academy this year. He will be remembered by many for his lemonade and Kool-Aid stands and going around Penn Yan in his wheelchair. He will be missed at McDonald's and Dunkin' Donuts.

His love of cooking, art, and drawing kept him busy when he was not involved in other activities. James was active in AWANA (and especially loved "Sparks") at Faith Baptist Church in Dundee. He attended the Youth Group at Zion Fellowship Church in Canandaigua, was a volunteer for Heart Support of America, and was a former member of 4H; the Ronald McDonald House was like a second home for him.

He is loved and will be dearly missed by his parents, Donna M. (Steve) Luppino, with whom he made his home, and Alan R. (Christine) Mack Sr. of Howard, NY; two brothers, Alan R. Mack II at home and Joshua A. Mack of Howard; two sisters, Madeline R. Mack and Natalie L. Mack, both of Howard; a stepbrother, Rodney J. Clark of Corning, NY; maternal grandparents, Donald and Christine Applebee of Weston, NY; paternal grandmother, Carole A. Mack of Greenville, SC; maternal great-grandfather, Donald Wolfanger of Tenn.; aunts and uncles, Tammie (Randy) Andrews of Penn Yan, Holly (Steve) Adair of Sevierville, TN, Arthur R. Mack III of Asheville, N.C., John (Hollie) Mack of Duncan, S.C.; dear cousin Venessa Andrews; and many more cousins; close friends Matt Christensen and Sandra Kron; and countless friends, too many to mention.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee. Online condolences can be sent by visiting www.bairdfuneralhomedundee.com.
