James N. Keeney

Genoa, NY January 26, 1962 – July 10, 2026 Age 64

James N. Keeney, 64, of Genoa, passed away on July 10, 2026, at Auburn Community Hospital after an illness.

Jim was born January 26, 1962, in New London, CT, a son of the late Claude and Mary Arlene (Reeves) Keeney. He was a resident of the area for most of his life and graduated from Southern Cayuga Central School. He retired in 2020 from Unity House of Cayuga County, where he had worked for many years in maintenance services.

Jim was an avid collector of clocks, skilled especially in their repair and restoration. He enjoyed music and played the guitar. He loved his dogs, and his grandchildren were most special to him!

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Andrews) Keeney, and their children Colton, Emilie, James, and Alex Keeney; his daughters from his previous marriage, Ashley Keeney and Adrienne Cooper (Ed); 13 grandchildren, including Elizabeth Hoisington and Carter and Catalina Morales, with whom he had resided; sisters: JoAnn Tyrrell (Edward), Mary Malseed (James), Donna Wheeler (Brad Eldridge), Linda Moon (Milton), and Betty Post; a special "like a son," Celestino Morales; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Keeney.

At Jim's request, there will be no public services. A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
