James A. Dann
James A. Dann, 89, of Moravia, NY, died peacefully born Saturday, May 16, 2026, at his home.
Jim was born May 24, 1936, in Summerhill, a son of Gaylord Dann and Annabell Perkins Dann. He was raised on Chestnut Hill, Sempronius, working on a local farm. He moved to Moravia where he resided for most of his life. He attended Moravia High School before enlisting in the US Marine Corps. He obtained his High School Diploma while stationed in Hawaii.
He married LeeAnn M. O'Connell. He was a Cayuga County Sheriff's Dept. Custodial Division Officer, then he transferred into the NYS Dept. of Corrections, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed hunting and pistol shooting. He also enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and extended family.
He is survived by 3 sons: Timothy (Julie) of Sempronius, Martin (Lynn) of Albany, NY, Jared (Susan) of Moravia; daughter Jennifer Dann of Clifton Park, NY; grandchildren Layne Dann, Jack Dann, Chad (Amanda) Dann, Nicholas (Jenna) Thomas, Kayla Dann, LeeAnna Dann, and Makayla Boden; great-grandchildren Lucas, Lily, and Cameron; a sister, Arlene Murphy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, LeeAnn; sisters Irene Wheeler, Bernice Mix, and Alice Dann; brothers Donald, Ervan, John, and Norman.
A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the Wade Funeral Home, 22 Church St., Moravia. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Moravia, with Military Honors.
