James L. "Jim" Allen Sr. Dundee: James L. "Jim" Allen Sr., age 68, of the town of Tyrone, NY, died unexpectedly on Friday, September 23, 2011, at Clifton Springs Hospital in Clifton Springs, N.Y.

Honoring his wishes, friends and family are invited to a casual Celebration of His Life from 1-5 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 1) in his garage at the family home, 4837 County Route 25, Dundee. James was born Feb. 23, 1943, in Penn Yan, N.Y., the son of the late Cleland D. and Cleda Oakley Allen. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1961. On April 21, 1968, in Tyrone, he married the former Judy A. Day. A lifelong area resident, Jim was a former Tyrone Highway Dept. Superintendent and retired as Deputy Superintendent of Highways for Schuyler County. Mr. Allen was a member of the Schuyler County Association of Town Highway Superintendents, the Barrington Rifle Club, and the Loyal Order of The Moose Lodge #426, Montour Falls, NY. In his spare time, he enjoyed farming and hunting.

He is loved and will be dearly missed by his wife of 43 years, Judy D. Allen, at home; 2 sons, James L. (Shirley Duran) Allen Jr. of San Manuel, AZ, Shawn S. (Karen Keech) Allen of Wayne, NY; 2 daughters, Diana L. Davis of Wayne, Cheryl A. (Stanley) Zerniak Jr. of North Rose, NY; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his stepmother, Beatrice Allen; 2 sisters, Janet M. Rickerson, Patricia A. (Lanny) Gilbert; stepbrother, Michael (Debra) Naylor; 2 stepsisters, Vickie (Duane) Maxfield and Esler Naylor, all of Dundee; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a dear brother-in-law, Earl D. "Bud" Rickerson.
