Glen S. Hoffman

WILLARD – Glen S. Hoffman, age 74, longtime resident of Willard, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 24, 2026, following several years of declining health.

Glen was born on July 18, 1952, in Norristown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Albert A. Hoffman and Mary E. (nee Sommers) Hoffman. Glen was known for his intelligence, mechanical aptitude, and lifelong curiosity about how things worked. Earlier in life, he and his wife lived in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where he owned a motorcycle shop and earned his pilot's license to fly small aircraft. After returning to Pennsylvania, he owned a drywall and painting business, where he and his crew were known for their quality workmanship and attention to detail. He later moved to New York and joined Cornell University as a Programmer Analyst. During his career there, he worked for Operations Research and Industrial Engineering and Cornell Information Technologies (CIT), Systems & Operations, while also working part-time in the Laboratory of Plasma Studies until his retirement.

He enjoyed restoring and working on automobiles, especially Jeeps and Mercedes, playing guitar, watching documentaries about history and nature, and had a lifelong fondness for animals, especially cats.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Debra Hoffman; his children, Rachel (Bradley) Lowe of Trumansburg, Alicia (Timothy Elswick) Hoffman of Rochester, Alexander Hoffman of Ithaca, and Jill Hoffman of Ithaca; his grandchildren, Lauren Myers and Ethan Lowe; and his brother, Bruce Hoffman of Pennsylvania.

In accordance with his wishes, Glen remained at home throughout his illness, where he was cared for by his wife, Debra. Services will be held privately by the family.
