Gary C. Popson

Gary Charles Popson, 65, of Dunmore, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore following a courageous battle with cancer.

Gary was born on July 12, 1960, in Newton, NJ, to the late John Popson and Julie Maslowsky. He recently retired from Schott following his cancer diagnosis. He had a love for animals, especially his dogs, Boomer and Bailey. Gary formerly served as a volunteer firefighter and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer and bear hunting while spending time at a cabin with his close friends. He enjoyed spending time at the beach and especially loved the Miami Dolphins and Elvis Presley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline (Boyd) Popson, whom he missed dearly. He is survived by his three step-daughters, Nicole (Jason) Stefanowicz, Danielle Cardinale, and Jennifer (Kyle) Sharp; and five grandchildren, Grayson and Madison Stefanowicz, and Owen, Oliver, and Harper Sharp. He is also survived by his uncle, Leon, and sister, Nancy.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral services at this time. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Sacred Heart staff for their compassionate care.
