Ovid, NY October 4, 1934 – April 18, 2026 Age 91

Ethel (Nivison) Williams, 91, passed away on April 18, 2026. Ethel was born in Arcadia, CA, on October 4, 1934, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Adele (nee Heisel) Nivison. She was a graduate of Ovid High School and Willard State Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1955. She worked for OMH and OPWDD for nearly 40 years. Her career led her to various facilities in NY State, such as Willard, Poughkeepsie, Ogdensburg, and Binghamton. She retired in 1989 as a Treatment Team Leader at Broome Developmental Center in Binghamton, NY.

Ethel was a life member and active volunteer of the VFW Post 6200 Ladies Auxiliary in Ovid. Additionally, she attended Ovid Federated Church, where she assisted with church events and volunteered at the Thrift Shop. She is survived by her children, Mark Williams of Zephyrhills, FL, Beverly (Ken) Patrick, and Carol (Scott) Armstrong, all of Lodi, NY; her grandchildren, Ashley, Brock, and Stephanie, Andrew, Chelsea, and Brooke, and their families; her brother, Albert Nivison of Willard, NY, and many nieces and nephews. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Charles Williams; her siblings, Beatrice Licak, Maxine Utterback, Roland Nivison; and her granddaughter Amy Williams.

Ethel enjoyed traveling, spending her winters in Florida and her summers on Seneca Lake, and was a member of 'Ladies of Harley.' She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and laugh. Her love and legacy will live on through her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

The family will receive friends at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 11:00 to Noon, a funeral service officiated by Pastor Rob Mellgard will then be held at Noon, followed by a private family burial at the Seneca-Union Cemetery in Valois.
