Eric C. Moon
Bloomfield, NY – Eric C. Moon, age 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2026. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted companion of 31 years, Janet McKie; his brother, Reid (Krista) Moon; his sister, Elizabeth Moon (Doug Alexander); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Born in Grove City, PA, Eric was the son of Fred Moon Jr. and Jeanetta (White) Toelke. He spent his formative years in San Jose, CA, where he nurtured his entrepreneurial spirit by founding Entertainment Services, a company providing PA systems for large venues.
In the early 1980s, Eric made his way to New York and opened The Iris Farm in Farmington, a welcoming bed and breakfast where he hosted guests for three memorable years. During this time, his passion for music led him to a career in radio, working with WLKA Radio and Sunny102 in Canandaigua, as well as the jazz and blues station WJZR in Rochester. His distinctive voice also brought life to numerous local and national commercials.
In 2000, Eric and Janet embarked on a new venture, founding The Quiet Place, a vacation rental business with the warmth and charm of a bed and breakfast. Together, they managed 20 properties over two decades before selling the business and retiring in 2020.
Eric's love for music extended beyond his career; most recently, he generously donated a mini disk player with speakers and a collection of CDs to the Sands Cancer Center in Canandaigua, offering patients the comfort and joy that music brought to his own life.
A man of many talents, Eric found joy in caring for animals, tending to his yard, and tackling projects around his property—there was no challenge too great for him. Above all, he treasured the time spent with Janet and their circle of friends.
A celebration of Eric's life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to the Sands Cancer Center, 395 West St., Suite 101, Canandaigua, NY 14424.
