Dundee: Emma H. Barthold, age 78, of Dundee, NY, died Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. Honoring her wishes, there are no prior calling hours. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837.

Emma was born November 16, 1934, in New Milford, NJ, the daughter of the late Richard and Alice Steck Reiken Sr. She graduated from Dumont High School in Dumont, N.J., in 1951. On Oct. 27, 1972, in Ridgefield Park, NJ, she married Richard O. Barthold. They moved from Lehighton, PA, to Campbell, NY, in 1993, then to Tyrone in 2004, and finally to Dundee in 2010.

Emma was employed as a Certified Nurses Assistant at The Homestead in Penn Yan, prior to working at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Health Center in Hammondsport, NY, until her retirement in 1996. A loving wife who valued all time spent with family, she enjoyed all forms of needlework: sewing, knitting, and crochet.

She is loved and will be dearly missed by her husband of exactly 41 years, Richard O. Barthold, at home; a sister, Alice Ross of Fort Montgomery, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Richard R. Reiken Jr., in 2012, and two sisters, Kate Holmes and Eleanor Cole, both of which passed away in 2005.
