Elizabeth K. "Betty" Stanton

Ithaca/Dundee: Elizabeth K. "Betty" Stanton, age 102, of Ithaca, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Oak Hill Manor in Ithaca, NY. Friends may call from 11:00 am - 12 noon on Wednesday (May 7) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee, where her funeral service will be held at 12 noon with Rev. Lucinda O'Leary officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 60 Bay Street, Staten Island, NY 10301, or the charity of the donor's choice.

"Betty" was born October 5, 1911, in Rochester, NY, the daughter of the late Frank L. and Sarah Morse Kurtz. She graduated from West High School in Rochester in 1928. After attending the University of Rochester for one year, she transferred to Rochester Athenaeum & Mechanic's Institute, now R.I.T., graduating in 1934. On June 13, 1935, in the West Point Chapel, she married the late Julius "Stan" Desmond Stanton, who passed away after 61 years of marriage on April 18, 1997.

Mrs. Stanton was a former member of the Trumansburg Golf Club. She is survived by one son, John D. (Joy) Stanton of The Villages, Florida; a daughter, Janet S. "Jan" Stanton of Show Low, AZ; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Sara E.
