Canandaigua – Elaine (Palmiter) Newman Minuto, age 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026. She is survived by two children, Cindy (Brian) Degaugh and Rick Newman; eight grandchildren, Allicia Crowther, Benjamin Hood, Sarah, Brett and Eli Newman, Zachary, Ashley and Arianna Degaugh; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Brewer; sisters-in-law, Elaine VanSile, Mary Maier, Simone VanSile and Lori Palmiter; nephews and nieces, Eric (Heather) VanSile, Brenda (Roger) Dominick, Terri (Tony) Pardo, Kristin (Jon) Williams, Holly (Mike) Lovejoy, Melanie (Chris) Colegrove, Samantha (Jeff) Phillips, Desiree (Will) Childress and Marcie (Mike) Neiger. She was predeceased by two husbands, Richard Newman in 2002 and David Minuto in 2023; grandson, Evan Crowther in 2018; and brother, Sam Palmiter.

Elaine was born in Canisteo, NY, and was the daughter of Everette and Emily (Green) Palmiter. She attended Canisteo schools and was a graduate of Canisteo High School, class of 1963. Elaine was a warm and wonderful person who cared deeply for her family and those around her. In her early life, she enjoyed riding on a Harley Davidson motorcycle with her husband, Richard. They also enjoyed traveling and later, Elaine became a Sunday School teacher at Faith Community Church in Geneva.

Elaine retired from Pactiv in Canandaigua after 32 years of service. After she met her second husband Dave, they enjoyed sailing and taking many vacations, especially to Vermont. To know Elaine was to love her. She was always the one who went the extra mile for those she cared about. Elaine will be remembered as a wonderful mother, doting grandmother and the sweetest lady anyone ever knew.

Friends may call Friday, July 31, from 5-7 pm, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Her memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home.
