DEBRA L. SMITH, age 64, of Bone Plain Road, Freeville, NY, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018, surrounded by her family in Fairport at the home of her sister after a brief struggle with cancer.

"Debbie" was born October 28, 1954, in Fort Bragg, New Jersey, a daughter of John and Phyllis Coville Hill of Freeville, NY. Debbie graduated from Dryden High School in 1972 and was employed at Smith Corona and later retired from SUNY Cortland. She enjoyed boating, camping, golfing, having fun, and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her companion, Joe Ebel of Freeville; her daughter, Wendy Lauper of Freeville; grandchildren, Cailyn Hugaboom and Jadyn Lauper of Freeville; four siblings, Chris Jago, Cheri English, Robin Hill, and John Hill, Jr.; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on January 3, 2019, at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden, NY. A reception will follow at the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home. Memorials, in Debbie's name, may be sent to the Tompkins County SPCA, 1640 Hanshaw Road, Ithaca, NY 14850.
