Dean Edward Zettlemoyer

SENECA FALLS/WATERLOO - Dean Edward Zettlemoyer, 59, Sgt (Ret.), of Seneca Falls, NY, formerly of Waterloo, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on February 14, 1967, in Waterloo, NY, Dean was the son of Richard E. and Shirley E. Zettlemoyer. After graduating from Waterloo High School in 1985, he went on to dedicate 26 years of his life to protecting and serving the Seneca Falls community. He took immense pride in his career as a Sergeant before retiring in 2010.

Beyond his time on the force, Dean was known for his dedication to his family and his quick-witted humor. He was a devoted husband, a guiding father, and a proud papa. In his retirement, he could often be found loving his family, napping with his grandbabies, and searching for his next home renovation.

Dean is survived by his loving wife of ten years, Rebecca J. Zettlemoyer; his mother, Shirley Brown Zettlemoyer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerald and Nancy VanOrden; his children, Colin (Sara) Zettlemoyer, Kevin (Keira Potvin) Zettlemoyer, Allison (Jason) Erman, Elizabeth (George) Dobrovosky, Robert Preza; his three grandchildren; his brother, Dale (Rhonda) Zettlemoyer; brother-in-law, David (Catherine) VanOrden, Michael (Stephanie) VanOrden; sister-in-law, Karen Baur; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard E. Zettlemoyer; sister, Denise Dilorenzo; and brother-in-law, Christian Baur.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 6th, at 1 PM at Vince's Park, 1608 Vince's Park Dr., Seneca Falls, NY 13148.
