David Joseph Morel Sr. Penn Yan: David Joseph Morel Sr., age 93, of Penn Yan, NY, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at The Homestead in Penn Yan, N.Y.
Friends are invited to call from 3-5 p.m. Thursday (May 23) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee, where a Catholic funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 5:00 p.m. with Father Jack O'Connor officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Newton, NJ, at the convenience of the family.

David was born June 6, 1919, in Sanford, Maine, the son of the late Thomas and Lydia Cot? Morel. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was highly decorated, including the Purple Heart and Silver Star. On Dec. 18, 1941, in Newark, NJ, he married the former Madeline M. Gramcko, who passed away on February 23, 1980.
A retired mechanic for J.R. Roof Auto Sales & Ser. of Newton, NJ, Mr. Morel has lived locally since 2004, formerly of Maryland. He attended St. Michael's Catholic Church, was a Life Member of the American Legion, a Life Member of the V.F.W., and enjoyed bowling, playing cards, hunting, and fishing in his younger years.
Family was his greatest love, and he will be dearly missed by a son, David Joseph (Eileen) Morel Jr. of Gambrills, MD; two daughters, Theresa Lydia Hudler of Cambodia, Melanda M. (Charles) Sipley Jr. of Dundee; two brothers, Thomas (Mae) Morel of Belleville, NJ, John (Gwen) Morel of Lansdowne, MD; a sister, Louise Millazzo of Howell, NJ; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
One of ten children, he was pre-deceased by four brothers, two sisters, and a great-grandson, Charles Sipley IV.
