Cherie Ann (Canale) Major
Cherie Ann Canale Major, 72, of Auburn passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026, in the comfort of Francis House, Syracuse. Born in Auburn on October 8, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lois Wooding Canale.
Cherie was a graduate of Port Byron High School, Class of 1971, Cayuga Community College, and Columbia College. She was employed for many years as the controller for Lewis Goodman Chrysler Plymouth in Syracuse and later worked as the bookkeeper for the Towns of Sennett and Cato. Cherie was a talented seamstress and loved the outdoors. She played racquetball and enjoyed golf at Highland Park, where she was President of the Board of Directors for a short time.
She is survived by her loving husband Daniel Major; four sisters, Terri Doolittle, Kim Scala, Karen Battaglia (Dr. Joseph), and Kathy Reynolds; nieces and nephews Carolyn Doolittle, Jill Doolittle (Mike Blee), Ryan DeVay, Howie Reynolds, and Sally Reynolds; sister-in-law Katherine "Kim" DeVay (Brian); and brother-in-law Peter Major (Teresa). In addition to her parents, Cherie is predeceased by her brother-in-law Robert Doolittle.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, July 21st from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM in White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South Street, Auburn, NY. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 in the Funeral Home.
