Penn Yan, NY March 25, 1951 – May 11, 2026 Age 75

Charles C. Havens, age 75, of Penn Yan, passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2026, at home.

Friends are invited to gather at the Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main St., in Penn Yan on Tuesday (May 19th) at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate and remember his life. Following the memorial service at 11:00 a.m., military honors will be conducted at the Benton Rural Cemetery by the United States Navy and Yates County Honor Guard.

Charles was born in Penn Yan on March 25, 1951, the son of Irving E. Havens and Leila (Morse) Havens. The Havens family has long been a part of the community, with Havens Corners Road named in their honor. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his brothers George and Irving B. Havens, and their sister, Shirley Travis.

He is also survived by 2 nephews, David Havens and Steven Travis; 2 nieces, Linda Travis and Sandra Miller; and good friends, Brad and Brenda Smith, and Mark and Wendy Warren. Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1971 to 1974. Following his military service, he returned home. He worked as an Equipment Operator for the Town of Benton and previously with Coach Equipment. He enjoyed his time spent farming.

Charlie cherished the outdoors and enjoyed activities such as camping, vacations, swimming, crafts, feeding birds, and gathering around campfires. These moments brought him great joy and allowed him to enjoy nature and connect with friends.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate and remember Charlie's life on Tuesday, May 19th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main Street, Penn Yan. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., followed by military honors conducted at the Benton Rural Cemetery by the United States Navy and the Yates County Honor Guard. A reception will be announced. Charles will be fondly remembered for his service and love of the outdoors.
