Brenda Hollenbeck

Brenda M. Hollenbeck (née Kaner), 62, of Penn Yan, NY, passed away Monday, June 15, 2026.

A celebration of life will be held on July 25th at the Potter Firehouse from 1-3 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Humane Society of Yates County.

Brenda was born March 12, 1964, in Fort Lee, VA, to Leonard Kaner, Jr. and the late Barbara Kaner (Johnson). She graduated high school in Horseheads, NY. She then attended the nursing program at Corning Community College. On January 4th, 1986, she married Kevin S. Hollenbeck.

Brenda spent her career as a nurse at various locations in the Southern Tier and the Finger Lakes, including St. Joseph's, Geneva General, Soldiers and Sailors, FF Thompson, and Van Dyke ATC.

Brenda was family-oriented and focused on her daughters and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time outside on the porch, Keuka Lake, reading, animal documentaries, Star Trek, scary movies and ghost hunting shows, and crosswords. Brenda was also an animal lover and brought multiple family pets into the home over the years, including Mercedes, Pester, LB, Rudy, and Riley.

She is loved and will be forever missed by her three daughters, Sarah A., Jennifer L., and Gabrielle M.; grandsons David L. Hey, Gibson M. Hey, Andrew W. Hey; sister Rebecca; father Leonard; several nieces and nephews; and her extended family. Brenda was predeceased by her mother Barbara, brother William, and her husband Kevin.
