Barbara Jane Calland

Savannah: Barbara Jane Calland, age 88, passed away on August 27th at the Newark Wayne Community Hospital following a brief illness.

Born June 18, 1927, in Savannah, she was the daughter of Jesse J. Bates and Irene Wheeler. Barb was predeceased by her husband, her parents, brother Richard, and long-time friend Mary Ross. She is survived by sister Ethel Bates Wright, brother Eddie Bates, sister-in-law Hallie Bates, and by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will not be observed. A graveside committal will be held on Saturday, October 10th, at the Butler-Savannah Cemetery. A gathering will be held from 1-5 p.m. at the Savannah Fire Department on Route 89.
