Anne (Murphy) Campbell
Bloomfield – Anne (Murphy) Campbell, age 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026, while listening to her Irish music.
She is survived by five children, Stephen (Roberta) Campbell, John (Debbie) Campbell, Liam Campbell, Maureen McIntosh, and Alan (Sarah) Campbell; 14 grandchildren, Matthew, Stephanie (Gary), Brian, Eric, Lauren (Joey), Katherine, Sara, Ian, Colin, Aodhan, Rory, Finnan, Tiernan, and Gemma; great-granddaughter, Cassidy Jane; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William Campbell, in 2021; daughter, Evelyn Maihofer, in 2021; son-in-law, Jason Maihofer, in 2020; and two sisters, Mary Carey and Bennie McGrath.
Anne was born and raised in Rathmorgan, Ireland, and was the daughter of Martin and Mary (Gaughan) Murphy. She grew up in a thatch roof cottage in a town with 24 people. Anne attended a one-room schoolhouse and spoke Gaelic while growing up.
She met her future husband Bill while attending an Irish dance in Glasgow, Scotland. They married on June 8, 1957, in Glasgow and lived near Loch Lomond. Bill and Anne, along with their five children, emigrated to the United States in 1968 and settled in West Bloomfield. Their youngest child Alan was born in Canandaigua. She was a devoted mother, known lovingly to her children as Mum. Anne and Bill were inseparable. Family was their everything. Anne dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She loved cooking for her family, and no one ever left her house hungry. Anne was a member of St. Bridget’s Church.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 16, at 11 am, at St. Bridget’s Church, 15 Church St., Bloomfield. Interment will be in St. Bridget’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Benedict Parish for St. Bridget’s Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua, NY 14424.
