Andrew C. Villa

Andrew C. Villa, 95, of Chandler, Arizona, and formerly of Camillus, New York, passed away July 15, 2026. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Nicki, his parents, Charles and Josephine (Infausto) Villa, and his sisters Frances Giamondo, Carmella Grunzwieg, and Dolores Wackenheim.

Born in Buffalo, New York, Andy proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. After the war, in a profound act of faith and gratitude, he fulfilled a promise to God by crawling several miles on his knees to the cathedral in Buffalo—an extraordinary gesture that captured national attention.

Andy was the true embodiment of a gentleman, always gracious with a "please" and "thank you." Even in his final days, upon simply hearing voices around him, he would softly offer thanks, regardless of whether he recognized who was present. He worked for more than 30 years at Niagara Mohawk, eventually relocating his family from Buffalo to Camillus.

Andy and Nicki were deeply devoted to their faith and to Holy Family Church, where they were active members of the Altar Rosary Society and participated in the church's annual Christmas tree sales. He was also an avid golfer, achieving multiple holes-in-one and earning numerous trophies through league play. In addition, he enjoyed bowling and was a loyal Syracuse University fan.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Hospice of the Valley, especially Shannon and Kathy, as well as the nurses and staff at The Enclave in Arizona, including Ginger Care (Cici and Lonnie), for their compassionate care. Special gratitude is given to his daughter-in-law, Renee, for the extraordinary love and support she provided.

Andy is survived by his sisters, Rita Catalano, Eleanor Gaiser, and Gloria Baker; his sons, Michael (Marilyn) Villa, Andrew (Renee) Villa Jr., and Mark (Deb) Villa; his grandchildren, Caroline (Katie), Lindsay, Michael, Dave (Annelisa), Kaitlin (Connor), Samantha, Emma, and Krysta; and his great-granddaughters, Raven and Amina.

Andy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him as a devoted father, Papa, Grandpa, and true gentleman. His legacy of love, laughter, and his famous biscotti will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 PM Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM Wednesday, August 5, in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Drive, Syracuse. The burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Andy requested that donations be made to the Syracuse, NY Toys for Tots.
