Alonzo "Al" Davis

Canandaigua, NY September 28, 1948 – May 12, 2026 Age 77

Canandaigua - Alonzo “Al” Davis, age 77, went home to be with his precious Lord and Savior, while surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Norma Davis; three children, Theresa (David) Dils, Brian (Elizabeth) Davis, and Gregory (Kerry) Davis; seven grandchildren, David and Abigail Dils, Maddison and Leah Davis, Aidan, Eli, and Chloe Davis; four siblings, Opie (William) Rase, Edward (Lori) Davis, Shirley Webster, and Betty Wiley; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Terry Davis.

Al was born in Watertown, NY, and was the son of Edward and Opie (Weaver) Davis. He graduated from Lyme Central School. Al became an apprentice sprinkler fitter through Penn State University, completing a 5-year program. He worked as a sprinkler fitter journeyman for over 30 years with Union Local 669.

His passion was sharing his faith in the Lord without hesitation. This, he felt, was his ministry, and many were blessed by his gentle, loving way of sharing. As part of his ministry, he gifted little red Bibles to all in an effort to encourage others to seek the truth. He was a man of strong faith, character, integrity, and patience. Everyone who knew Al loved him.

Al was a devoted Buffalo Bills fan, and he particularly enjoyed taping the games and watching them again and again. He was an avid reader, spent hours doing woodworking projects, especially making toy boxes, doll houses, and jewelry boxes for his family. Al loved to travel with Norma, and they often traveled with friends. His greatest enjoyment came from making treasured memories with his grandchildren, whether it was sleepovers with special devotion time in the morning or participating wholeheartedly in their choice of play or activities.

A celebration of life gathering will tentatively be held Saturday, July 11, time and place to be announced. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his memory to Lima Christian School, 1574 Rochester St., Lima NY 14485. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., Canandaigua.
