Himrod: Adolph L. Dombroski, age 94, of Himrod, NY, died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 4, 2011, at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan, NY. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 7) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 8) with Rev. Ron Woudenberg officiating. Burial will follow in Grove Mount Cemetery, Himrod, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Himrod Fire Department, P.O. Box 112, Himrod, NY 14842.
Adolph was born July 15, 1917, in Amasa, Michigan, the son of the late Joseph and Stella Orkwiszewski Dombroski. The family moved to the Six Corners area of Dundee in 1921. On June 22, 1940, in Rochester, NY, he married the former Mary M. Conley; they moved to Himrod in 1961. Mr. Dombroski retired in 1981 after 25 years of service at Ingersoll-Rand in Painted Post, where he was a member of Local 313 of the International Union of Electrical, Radio, and Machine Workers Union. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1932 to 1934 and was a former member of the Himrod Conservation Club and a former member of the Corning and Penn Yan Moose Lodges.
He is loved and will be dearly missed by his wife of 71 years, Mary M. Dombroski, at home; 3 sons, David C. Dombroski of Dundee, Robert B. Dombroski of Aztec, New Mexico, Kenneth H. (Juanita) Dombroski of Penn Yan; 3 daughters, Jean D. Crouse of Palatka, FL, Shirley A. (Ron) Morley of Edgewater, FL, Carol J. "Sue" (Robert) Brown of Penn Yan; 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward (Stella) Dombroski of Lima, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by 2 sons, Joseph E. and Carl J.; 2 brothers, Alexander and Edwin; and 4 sisters, Sophie Herrman, Josephine Rossiter, Helen Dombroski, and Jeannine McKnight.
