William D. McKay, age 81, of Dundee, passed away on January 5, 2026.
Bill grew up in Wayne, New York. After graduating from high school, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969, until he was injured. He received the Purple Heart for his service.
He worked for Homer Fullagar Vineyards in Penn Yan and was a member of the Dundee VFW.
Bill was predeceased by his brother, Robert McKay, in 2023; his mother, Laura (McCann) Tyler, in 1999; and his younger brother, Jack Johnston, who died in childhood.
He is survived by his siblings, Richard McKay, Eugene McKay, Charles McKay, Sally Schenk (Paul), and Juanita Rogers.
The family will receive friends at the Weldon Funeral Home, 102 East Main Street in Penn Yan, on Thursday, January 15, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Bath National Cemetery on Friday, January 16, at 11:00 a.m.
