Wayland L. Daeffler, 97, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024 Rochester General Hospital, with his family by his side.
Friends and family are invited to call Tuesday, October 1 from 5 – 8 PM at Mull Funeral Home, 113 Virginia Street, Waterloo. A funeral service will be Wednesday at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, with full military honors.
Wayland was born July 18, 1927, the son of the late Otto and Elsie May (Green) Daeffler. Wayland served in the Army Air Corp for 2 years during World War II. He was a contractor for several years in the Waterloo area, often working alongside other family members in the construction industry. He worked many years for Seneca County Code Enforcement and building inspection before retirement. His interests included building and flying radio controlled airplanes, watching Nascar and Dirt Racing, football and reading mystery novels. He also had a pilot license and flew small aircraft in his younger years.
He is survived by his daughters; Rebecca (Michael) Palmer, Donna Bud and Liz (Stanley) Britton; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-law Karen Daeffler; his longtime friend Elise McGlynn; his beloved cat Sophie; several nieces, nephew and cousins.
Besides his parents, Wayland was preceded in death by his wife Lillian Z. (Krager) Daeffler; his son David Daeffler; his three sisters and two brothers.
