Wanda L. WoodPenn Yan, NY

Wanda L. Wood, 63, of Penn Yan, passed away Monday, February 9, 2026, at her home.

She was born May 30, 1962, in Montour Falls. She was predeceased by her mother, Hazel V. (Wood) Pym in 2020; her stepfather, Charles W. Pym Sr. in 2001; and her grandmothers, Anna White and Mary Catherine Dencenberg.

Wanda is survived by her sisters, Linda M. (Max) Gee of Dundee, Kathy (Dennis) Beers of Campbell, and Mary (Clark) Searles of Knoxville, Tennessee; her brother, Charles Pym Jr. of Dundee; as well as 11 nieces and nephews and 12 great-nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Penn Yan Academy’s Class of 1982, she worked at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Arc of Yates, Mozaic, and later on the dining staff at Dundee Central School.

She was a devoted fan of the Buffalo Bills and enjoyed classic country music, old Westerns, horror films, and classic sitcoms. She also liked fishing, bowling, and spending time with family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 21, at 1 p.m. at Townsend-Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 201 East Elm Street in Penn Yan. Burial will follow in Tyrone Union Cemetery in Tyrone.
