Theodore Gardner

Theodore (Ted, Hoss) D. Gardner, born on November 8, 1939 in Penn Yan, N.Y., passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025 in Temple, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. He was 85.

He was the beloved son of Leland and Geraldine Gardner and was raised in Wayne, N.Y., attending Dundee Central Schools.

Ted graduated from Alfred Technical College, where he was a proud member of the Theta Gamma fraternity. He went on to serve in the Army Reserves and dedicated 36 years of his professional life to Xerox before retiring in 1999. He resided in Lyons, N.Y. for over 50 years before recently relocating to Belton, Texas. Ted was deeply committed to his faith and devoted countless hours to serving his church community.

He is survived by his loving wife, Vina Gardner; three children: Michael Gardner (Dawn) of Raymertown, N.Y., Jean Johnson (Charles) of Belton, Texas, and Scott Gardner (Tearsa) of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; nine cherished grandchildren: Keri Maxfield, Kirsten Niederer, Preston Gardner, Kelsey Cole, Meagan Oslund, Lissabeth Gardner, Nathan Gardner, Camille Gardner, and Timothy Gardner; and his brother Leland (Bill) Gardner (Mary Ann), as well as five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Craig.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 954 Sohn Alloway Rd., Lyons, N.Y. Burial will take place afterward in Lyons South Cemetery.

Ted's legacy of faith, dedication, and love will be remembered by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those he leaves behind.
