Steve was a quiet, thoughtful, mild mannered man. He learned carpentry, plumbing and home repair from his father, Howard Sr. Steve graduated from Geneva High School in 1974, taking the electrical course through Boces. After graduating high school, he worked for a couple of welding companies. Steve was a jack of all trades. He started his electrical business in 1979. He owned and operated Bailey Electric Inc. for over 40 years and created Eltec Systems Inc. in 2002, bringing home automation and security systems into the area. He met the love of his life, the former Rita Canne, while he was doing banking in 1979. They had been married almost 39 years. They welcomed their son Jonathan, whom he was so proud of.

Steve was a member and past secretary for the Ancient Order of Hibernians, a Third Degree Knight and board member of the Knights of Columbus Council #272 in Geneva, and member of the Sons of American Legion Winnek Post #396.

He is survived by his faithful loving wife, Rita Canne Bailey; son, Jonathan; his mother, Gertrude Louise Bailey; sister, Kathryn (Robert) Bailey; brothers, Timothy (Sandy), Rod, Todd (Liz), and Howard; special uncle and aunt, Robert and Joan Covert of Lodi; brothers-in-law , Alan (Anne), Arthur (Jeannie), and George; sisters, Mary and Paula; sister-in-law, Karen Canne; many nieces and nephews.
