Rodney Dinehart, age 76, of Penn Yan, NY, passed away April 25, 2025.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Branchport Firehouse on Sunday, May 4, 2025, beginning with a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM, followed by a reception. Rodney will be interred at Old Fort Cemetery at a later date, as decided by his family.
Rodney was born in Penn Yan on September 3, 1948, the son and one of nine children of Erwin "Stub" and Betty (Dunton) Dinehart. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Dennis and Richard Dinehart.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeanne Dinehart. They were married on August 25, 1971, at Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas. He is also survived by their daughter, Michele Dinehart; son Alan Dinehart; four grandchildren, Stacey Lurcock, Jeremey Dunton, Blake Roussel, and Jonathen Dinehart; sisters and brothers, Linda Sargent, Vonda Knapton, Keith Dinehart, Kenny (Lisa) Dinehart, Nancy (Terry) Robinson, and Michael (Dawn) Dinehart; sisters-in-law, Ruth Wetsell and Martha Dinehart; and several nieces and nephews.
Rodney loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming. He was a volunteer fireman and past Fire Chief (1981-1983) for the Branchport Fire Department. Rodney served in the US Air Force after high school, returning to his home after his service. He worked for Shay Gas & Oil and Weldon-Southerland Builders in his early years. Later in his life, he worked as a well digger for Barney Moravec, Inc., and a vineyard worker for Mike Folts Vineyards.
