Robert C. Thomson "Red", 87, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, at his home in Newark.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday (September 11), at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home following calling hours at noon. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

Red was born in Ogdensburg, NY, the son of the late Samuel Fenton and Muriel Eleanor Newcombe Thomson. For over forty two years he worked at Bloomer Brothers, and retired from Fold Pak.
He married Diane Bailey and together they raised five children. He was a member of the Newark Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #1249. In 2019, he was inducted into the Newark Athletic Hall of Fame. He enjoyed golfing. He followed the NY Yankees and the NY Giants avidly. Red loved watching his grand kids sporting events.
Mr. Thomson is survived by a daughter Trudi ("Butch") Thomson Greenfield; four sons Thomas (Kathy) of Naples, Fla., Jay (Karen) of Sherrills Ford, N.C., Jeffrey (Susanne) of Macedon, N.Y. and James (Kelly) Thomson of Farmington, NY; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers Edward (Gail) of Raleigh, N.C. and Stephen (Marilyn) Thomson of Williamson, N.Y.
He was predeceased by his wife Diane in 1996; his companion Connie Frank in 2021; and a brother Billy Thomson in 1938.
