Robert Stenzel

Robert Henry Stenzel, 92, of Geneva, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026.

Bob spent the majority of his life in Geneva, where he was the proud owner of Bob Stenzel Chevrolet and Buick from 1968 until his retirement in 2007. Through his business, he built not only a successful dealership but also lasting relationships within the community he loved.

An avid and accomplished golfer, Bob competed successfully on the PGA Tour and remained a familiar presence on local courses including Wayne Hills Country Club, Geneva Country Club, and Seneca Lake Country Club. Golf was one of his lifelong passions, a love first inspired by his father, a PGA professional.

Bob was deeply involved in the Geneva community. He was an active member of Rotary International and a recipient of the distinguished Paul Harris Fellow award. He served as a board member for Geneva National Bank/Lyons National Bank and was a lifelong supporter of Ducks Unlimited. As an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman, he cherished time spent traveling with his lifelong friends, affectionately known as The Roy's Marina gang.

Bob attended SUNY Brockport, where he played collegiate soccer under the mentorship of Coach Huntley Parker. The team achieved national success winning the National soccer title in 1955. He later earned a graduate degree in Education from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he coached the junior varsity and varsity golf teams. He remained a devoted Tar Heel fan throughout his life and was also a loyal supporter of the Boston Red Sox and the Buffalo Bills.

A proud veteran, Bob served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany before returning home.

He was a faithful member of Number 9 Presbyterian Church and in his later years treasured the friendships he formed with the morning coffee crew at Bagels and Cakes.

Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara (Bruni) Stenzel (2015); his brother, Mark (Gladys); and his parents, Robert and Elizabeth, whose strong work ethic and dedication greatly shaped his life. His father was the head professional at Churchville Golf Club, where his energetic and witty mother, Elizabeth, also worked.

He is survived by his devoted children; Kellie (Gerard Stigliano and son Matthew) and Rob (Tammy and children Shelby (Stephen) Vaughn and Kyle). Bob was the ideal father and sports parent, never missing a game or match, always offering steady guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support.

Services will be planned for the spring in Geneva.
