Robert Herman

Robert J. Herman, 89, of Sodus, New York, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025.

Bob was born on March 30, 1935, in Sodus, the son of John and Bernadine (Hubright) Herman. He graduated from Sodus Central School in 1953.

Bob enjoyed a full and accomplished life, marked by hard work, community service, and cherished hobbies. He retired from a successful career at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and was the former owner of The Country Hardware on Main Street in Sodus.

A dedicated member of his community, Bob was a proud participant in several organizations. He was a member of F&AM Masonic Lodge 392 Sodus and a charter member of the Sodus Lions Club, where he served as President from 1987 to 1988. His exceptional service was recognized with the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow Award and the William Brewerton PDG Memorial Award. Additionally, he was a member of the Lake Ontario Bowling Association.

Bob's passions included hunting adventures across the U.S. and Canada, enjoying NASCAR races, and cheering on his favorite team, the New York Yankees. In his later years, he found joy and tranquility in completing puzzles.

Bob will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Cynthia; his devoted daughters, Diana (Ron) Reynolds and Sandra (John) Hopkins; his cherished grandchildren, Tyler (Erin) Hopkins, Katelyn (Jeff) Martinez, Sarah (Andy) Hares, and Nathan (Rebecca) Reynolds; and his adored great-grandchildren, William, Jenna, and Eli Martinez; Kennedy and Logan Hopkins; Noah and Emerson Reynolds; and Elizabeth Hares. Brothers and sisters-in-laws; Jean Herman, Saxon (Mary) Heidenreich, Kristine (David) Wagner and Heidi Heidenreich.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother, Nelson Herman.

Bob will be remembered for his dedication to his community, his adventurous spirit, and the love and kindness he showed to family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held for family and friends at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Sodus United Third Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Bob's honor to Cracker Box Palace, PO Box 174, Alton N.Y. 14413.
