Richard "Footie" D'Amato was born on June 4, 1925, son of Anthony and Anna Sicuranzo D'Amato and a life long resident of Clyde. He passed away on December 1, 2025.
Richard was a veteran in WWII serving in the Marine Corps. in the Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1946. Following the war, he married his sweetheart Alma Gilkey in 1947 and they were married 78 years.
He worked as a Foreman with GE for 34 years in Clyde and Auburn and retired in 1985.
His family was everything to him. He enjoyed many sports on TV, especially baseball, and getting together with the boys for coffee at the VFW. Also, a member of St. Joseph The Worker and the VFW.
Survived by his wife, Alma, two daughters, Sue Ann Montemorano of Howell, NJ, and Betty Jo (Frank) Molisani of Clyde, N.Y.; and a son, James (Christine) D'Amato of Canandaigua, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Marisa (Chris) Montemorano Kunkle, Matthew (Jennifer) Montemorano, Kristi (Brian) Henner, Jennifer (Robert) DiPinto, Justin (Rosa) D'Amato, and Allison (Michael) Cuciti; three great-grandchildren, Evers and Lucian Kunkle, and Antonio Cuciti; sister-in-law, JoAnn MCarthy; and many nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by his parents; sister, Josephine Bowker; brother, Ralph and Annie D'Amato; son-in-law, James Montemorano; grandparents, Joseph and Jennie Sicuranzo; and uncle, Tony Sicuranzo.

Funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 10 a.m. at St. John's Church in Clyde, N.Y. Burial in St. John's Cemetery. Memorials to Wayne County Nursing Home, Activities Department, or St. Joseph the Worker Church.
