Reuben Z. Smoker, age 94, of Weston, NY passed away peacefully at Keuka Comfort Care Home, Penn Yan, NY on April 14, 2025, at 7:55 a.m.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Assembly of God Church, Route 3646 State Route 14A Penn Yan, NY. A graveside service for the family was held at Conestoga Mennonite Church Cemetery, Morgantown, PA.
Reuben was born September 15, 1930, in West Earl Township, PA, the son of the late John F. and Emma (Zook) Smoker. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Esther P. Smoker, infant daughter Sharon (twin of Karen), and 10 siblings.
Surviving are 4 children, Mahlon (Sandy) Smoker of Himrod, NY, Lloyd (Darlene) Smoker of Lancaster, PA, Darlene (Amos) Fox of Sarasota, FL, Karen (Dean) Hillyard of Weston, NY, 20 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, a brother Melvin Smoker of Strasburg, PA, sister-in-law Ada (Roy) Burkhart of Lancaster, PA, and several nieces and nephews.
Reuben was a farmer for many years. He enjoyed deer hunting and had a love for riding and driving his horses throughout most of his life, often with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an active member of his church and community, serving and helping others.
