Julie Arthur

Julie is deeply loved and missed by her family and friends, especially all kids who adored her, and will always live on in our hearts. She is a beloved sister and was an amazing aunt. Other words used to describe her include sweet and extraordinarily kind, funny, joyous, radiant, eccentric; free spirit larger than life; a best friend; gifted artist, photographer, and teacher; and an incredibly creative crafting queen. Learning Spanish was a life-long learning endeavor, when she wasn't faking an English accent. Oh, and Julie was an avid Amazon shopper (especially for multiple multi-use mini scissors), Pinterest enthusiast, and a Trekkie.

Boundless love and creative energy was shared with cherished children, dear friends, family, and four-legged pets blessed to be in Julie's world. She was loved in children's learning and play groups – by kids and parents alike; inspirational in her craft, jewelry and sewing classes; and extraordinarily patient and knowledgeable in childhood development as seen in her many nanny gigs. Her inspiration and enthusiasm for crafts, music and learning will continue in all children and adults touched by Julie's life.

Along with taking care of and teaching kids, Julie's life passions were numerous, with favorites including sewing beautiful purses and bags, eclectic jewelry-making and beading, fuzzy and warm knitting, and playing and lively singing-along on her ukelele. She could often be heard whistling away, like her Dad was also known for.

Julie had a deep connection to nature, with a devotion to her spiritual path as a weather worker. She lived close by Grandmother Ocean on Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester, MA, and always yearned for more cottage time on Seneca Lake. A very large collection of jade and succulents always filled her living space.

Julie had her Master's in Environmental Education from Lesley University, and an undergraduate degree in Photography from SUNY Cortland, N.Y.

A large family of sisters, brothers, her mother Joyce, nieces and nephews survive Julie.

In honor of Julie's memory, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to support children's book purchasing at your local library.
