Jennifer H. Reid, 76, of Geneva, N.Y., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 26, 2025 after a challenging and courageous 5-year battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Jennifer is survived by her husband, Stephen; their two children, Mitchell (Jill) and Julie; siblings, Bruce (Karen) Harris and Debra (Wes) Detar; grandchildren, Landon, Weston, and Jaxson; and many nieces and nephews.
Jennifer was predeceased by her parents Basil and Gloria.
Jennifer was born in Galeton, Pa. on July 7, 1948. She graduated from Galeton High School and attended Mansfield State University where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She held numerous jobs but thoroughly enjoyed her impact upon students while employed with the Geneva City School District. Following her tenure in the school system, she selflessly devoted time to the Literacy Volunteers of Ontario County where she helped individuals of various ethnic backgrounds learn how to read and speak English.
There was one element that has always been intertwined throughout her life: HOPE. It was always a constant in her life and something that she never lost sight of.
We would like to thank the countless doctors and nurses from Strong Memorial Hospital for their compassion and care over the past few weeks. Also, to our many amazing friends for their visits, phone calls, conversation and friendships.
In lieu of flowers, Jennifer's family asks that donations in her memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association (Rochester and Finger Lakes Region Chapter) or the Geneva Public Library.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
