Edward Herendeen

Edward Lee "Stub" Herendeen, a proud World War II Army Veteran, passed away on February 5, 2026 in Orange City, Florida at the age of 99.

Born on August 15, 1926, Edward was the son of James Frederick and Evelyn (Young) Herendeen. A member of the "Greatest Generation," he served his country driving an ambulance during World War II and maintained an admirable spirit of independence, living on his own until his passing. Professionally, Edward was a familiar face in the automotive community having spent the majority of his career working at Sommers Motors and Farnsworth Chevrolet in Canandaigua, N.Y.

In November 1963, Edward married Agnes E. (Finewood). While Agnes preceded him in death, the family they built together remains a central part of his life's story.

He is survived by his sister, Ann Rankin; two daughters, Kathy Whittaker and her husband, Ralph, and Debbie Pessoni; and his son, Bill Herendeen; stepchildren, Gerald Malloy and David Malloy and his wife, Karen; as well as several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joleen Herendeen; and his siblings, Helen (Albert) Kirker, Robert (Cheryl), Mary Alice (Samuel) Loiacano, Philip (Barbara), Donald (who passed at age 12), and Richard (who passed in infancy).

A memorial service will be held at the Farmington Friends Meeting House, 187 County Road 8, Farmington, N.Y., 14425, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11 a.m., with a reception to follow. There will be no prior calling hours.
